The piece of land that connects Egypt and what was once Mesopotamia was formerly known as Canaan.

This area of land was found where Palestine and Israel and some others are found today. They were commonly referenced in the Bible as the Canaanites but existed historically. Greeks knew them as Phoenicians and when Canaan fell they moved towards northern Africa where many called them the Punics and similar names.
