How is protein synthesis different from DNA replication?

In order for proteins to be made, you need amino acids. For amino acids to be made, genes must be copied base by base from DNA to a new strand of RNA. 

So DNA replication = DNA 
Protein synthesis has to go through many process: 
mRNA transcription = Translation = Binding of anti-codons to codons = Amino acids are made = Proteins are made
