remember what you do on one side of the equal sign you do to the other side.

2−6x=5−5(x−1)

multiply 5(x-1) to get below

2 - 6x = 5 - 5x + 5

combine like terms on right side 5+5=10

2 - 6x = 10 - 5x

subtract 2 from each side of equal sign

-6x = 8 - 5x

add 5 x to each side to cancel out right side

-1x = 8

now divide by -1 on each side to get the variable alone

x = -8
