Answer: x = 5, y = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

x – y = -2 ——— 1

5x – 4y = -3 —– 2

x = -2 + y ——— 3

3 in 2 ≈ 5(-2 + y) – 4y = -3

-10 + 5y – 4y = -3

y = -3 + 10

y = 7

Putting y = 7 in 3, we have;

x = -2 + (7)

x = 5

Hence (x, y) = (5, 7)
