1/3 * 1/4 = 1/12 because you multiply across and 1 *1 = 1 and 3 * 4 = 12

Simply,

[tex] \frac{1}{3} * \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1}{12} [/tex]

Multiply 3 and 4. You get the denominator. And also multiply the numerator.
