the argument that could be used to dispute this idea is: It can only be used in areas with specific kinds of rivers.

In order to generate the input to hydroelectric power, we need to create a magnet turbine that moved by a STRONG FLOW of river.
Since not all river has strong enough flow to generate such turbines, hydroelectric power still could not widely used in United states.
