Hey there!

A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement that isn't meant to be taken literally. In this example, you could put anything that overstates what the rain was like. 

For example, you could put something like: "The rain was going to pour down forever" or "The rain came down like cats and dogs" (to be a bit cliche), or something to that effect.
