The most famous types of bonds are the ionic bonds and the covalent bonds.
The ionic bond is formed due to the transfer of electrons from one atom to another. While the covalent bond is formed due to sharing of electrons between atoms where each atom contributes with one or more electron to be shared.

Based on this, we can deduce that electrons are the atomic particles that are responsible for the formation of bonds with other atoms.
