-(q + 14) = -3 +(-14)

First, simplify the brackets. / Your problem should look like: -q - 14 = -3 + -14
Second, cancel -14 on both sides. / Your problem should look like: -q = -3
Third, multiply both sides by -1. / Your problem should look like: q = 3

Answer: q = 3 (C)
