the distributiver property allows you to get rid of parenthasees when mulitplying for example
if you had
4 times (x+2) you can't simplify the parenthaseese becuase x and 2 aren't like terms so usses distributive whiich is
a(b+c)=ab+ac
so therefor
4(x+2)=4x+(4)2=4x+8
