The two similar triangles in the figures are:

a) ABC
b) ADE

For triangle ABC, the two sides are x and 6.
For triangle ADE, two corresponding sides are (x+8) and 8

For similar triangles, the ratio of corresponding sides is the same.

So, we can write:

[tex] \frac{x}{6}= \frac{x+8}{8} \\ \\ 8x=6(x+8) \\ \\ 8x=6x+48 \\ \\ 2x=48 \\ \\ x=24 [/tex]

Thus, the value of x will be 24
